Brighton University

We actively support Brighton University’s School of Environment and Technology. We feel it is important to feed into the next generation of the workforce and to be able to give them practical knowledge. Our staff give have given lectures on ‘The Adaptation of Buildings’ and ‘Architectural Technology in Practice’ we also sit in on student presentations to offer an industry perspective.

We also offer sandwich students a  placement year in our practice to help them experience the real world prior to them doing their final year, we have previously mentored 3 other students through their final year.

We also sit on the University’s industrial liaison panel, which enables the University to ensure that the courses that they teach stay relevant to the needs of the building industry.

Brighton Energy Co-op

The Brighton Energy Co-op is set to be the first community owned solar installation in the UK. Focusing on benefiting the community and the environment, money is raised by selling shares in the co-op; revenue is then split between co-op members and low-carbon community projects thus providing increased security of supply locally, and an income stream in the long term via the Government’s Feed in Tariff .

Brighton Energy Co-op support local energy generation schemes as these help UK PLC to ensure its future energy supply and reduce the transmission losses that occur when energy is generated miles away from where it’s used. On site generation is part of the solution to a sustainable future.

Cityzen has been assisting the Brighton Energy Co-0p with advice,  planning services, and site visits to determine feasibility and site constraints for their solar arrays.

Caroline Lucas MP

Caroline is the UK’s first Green MP and obviously all round good guy when it comes to fighting the green corner. We have met with Caroline to discuss buildings in Brighton and to put forward our idea for a local Network of Brighton to put like minded business people together to help reduce carbon emissions, energy costs and build better buildings within Brighton and Hove.
